The Islamic Center of Long Island strongly condemns the deadly attack in Paris committed in the name of Islam. Islamic traditions records numerous instances when Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing upon him) faced persecution and humiliation from the people of his tribe and he returned the physical, emotional attacks by forgiveness and blessings. His companions asked him to curse them and to this the Prophet (Peace and Blessing upon him), replied, “I have not been sent to lay a curse upon mankind but to be a blessing to all.” [Muslim, Book of Hadith collections]
Goethe, a famous German writer, artist, and politician of the 1800’s, wrote about Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing upon him):
“We Europeans with all our concepts and ideas have not yet attained that which Muhammad attained, and no one will ever surpass him. I searched in history for the loftiest example for man to follow, and I found it in the Prophet Muhammad.”
We stand in solidarity against human atrocities in the name of Islam, and pray for world peace and harmony.
